Laawar is a 1981 Bollywood film directed by Amrit Sagar and produced by Filmfare, starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. The film is about the eponymous horse that finds its way into an Indian cavalry station and leads to much confusion among the three generations of officers raised in the cavalry station. Amitabh Bachchan received a Filmfare Best Actor Award for his performance in this film. This was Abhishek Bachchan's first major role in a Hindi film and he appeared as Rakesh Kadam, an apathetic young man who befriends Laawar and wants it for himself. The film marked the debut of Shakti Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in Bollywood. The film was dubbed in Telugu as "Lavana" and in Tamil as "Maanal".
